FRIENDS OF LINCOLN TRAIL HOMESTEAD
STATE PARK AND MEMORIAL
The state memorial, created in 1938, commemorates the approximate location of Abraham’s Lincoln’s first home in Illinois. The original Lincoln cabin has long been lost but the memorials and the quiet forest and stream easily transport the visitor back to the time when the Lincoln's first settled this virgin wilderness.
NATIVE HERITAGE GARDEN
This native garden, surrounding the Memorial Rock, was planted as a memorial to Abraham Lincoln and his family who lived here, and was dedicated as the Lincoln Memorial Garden on October 7, 2017. Board members, Master Gardeners and Master Naturalists made this Heritage Garden possible and continue to nurture it every year.
